Thoughts from the roadrunner part two

So, there's too much on my mind.  I want to document how my race went, before it becomes a fuzzy memory.
Bear with me. Since I'll be taking frequent blogging breaks to solve homework problems, the continuity might not be at its finest. If I start writing about magnetics and induction...this won't be pretty.

So we went and got our race packets. They were in BRIGHT RED BAGS. I think this was to let people know that you must be an intense runner person, just because of the bag.

As I think back on it, I was mostly giddy for most of the day. If you had been around me, you might have told me to take a chill pill and a nap.

I tried to rest as much as possible on Friday, I didn't say this before, but I took long naps in the car (when I wasn't picking out music or making commentary on the scenery).

The rest of the evening was relatively uneventful. We ate dinner, went back to the motel, and while our supporters were in the next room watching telly, we got ready for the next morning.
So, I nervously laid out my clothes, pinned my race number on my shirt, drank water, stretched, and focused on relaxing.

Also, I ate a bowl of peanut butter cap'n crunch!
YUM.
(I had a salad for dinner, ok?)

Right before bed, I wrote myself a sticky note. Just in case I forgot the basics like putting on shoes, giving my camera to Dad, etc. haha,

Bless my heart.

We planned on getting up at 4:30.
4:30!?!? Yes.
So we went to bed about 9:30.
while I went to bed, I didn't actually sleep. I laid there, staring at the ceiling for a while, willing myself to not concentrate on what was about to happen. It was the same feeling I used to get on Christmas Eve: utter anticipation.
You would have thought I was getting a huge prize as opposed to making my body run 13.11 miles.
Finally, I dozed off. I awoke to the sound of three alarms.
We didn't want to oversleep, apparently.
First, Mrs. D's husband called her to wish her well and make sure that she was awake.
Then, my mom's phone started making a loud beeping noise.
THEN the radio on the in-room alarm went off. It was set to a loud static-y channel...I was mostly awake by that point.
Just to be sure, I drank a Monster Java energy drink.

I know what you might be thinking: "you're already geeked up, so why pump your body full of energy-inducing materials?"
I'm not a supporter of energy drinks, but this stuff was gooood. It got my blood flowing. I'm not a 4:30-in-the-morning person, ok?

I filled my water-bottle-belt, and put some candy in the pouch. I popped some tylenol for the inevitable pain I knew I would feel. Looking back, I am so glad that I did.
At 5:30, Dad drove us to the drop site. We jogged to loosen up and stretch, and made use of the 'facilities' just in time.  Runners are last-minute porta-potty users, it seems. We were lucky to avoid the line of 200.

Wow, I am doing a fabulous job of stretching this story out. I'm amazed if you stick this out with me.

Who knows if I'll ever actually finish my tale?
