...or, time, sorry. I'm not sure how fast the plant is.
I can't believe that it is already Wednesday!
This week has zipped by.
Is this what happens when one gets older? Does time really go by at this breakneck pace?
I am not looking forward to this. I miss the days of having one hour feel like an eternity.
Heh, maybe when I go back to school, I'll recall the feeling.
So, I've been playing my new ukulele (it needs a name. All great instruments have names. Suggestions?) Anywho, I've been playing and playing.
It's soooooooooooooooooooo fun. (extra o's make you really understand, don't they?)
And I came across a song that my parents thought was hilarious. I sang it for them, and they wanted me to do a video of it.
So I did.
And no, I'm not showing it to you. It's sooo silly.
...it could be potentially offensive.
Also, you guys, I have been getting many compliments now that I'm post-braces. Eek, it's crazy and wonderful what orthodontics can do. I have such fantastic friends.
Have I told you how much I love hearing nice things?
It can seriously make my day.
I have posted before about how sensitive I am to words and criticism. It goes both ways. Words are powerful.
But my head isn't getting bigger, never fear!
I will stay humble...

Slickery Teeth
IT HAPPENED!
My TEETH ARE FREE. Free from the bulky, poky braces.
I still startle myself when I look in the mirror. I don't look like me. I feel like my braces became part of my identity. They added to my Kari-from-the-incredibles vibe
Three years of braces!
Three.
Years.
I feel like that is a long time.
So you know I looked like this before:
NOW I look like this!
Yaaay!

Coordination and goodbye to the braces...soon
In my last post I said the next time I posted, I wouldn't have braces.
...I lied. I still have braces.
It's a few hours after that post. I feel like updating a bit.
Because I can.
So, here's what's good in the hood: I had a birthday recently. I'm now 19, which as you know, is the last teen year EVER.
It's bittersweet. But I still look like I'm 14, so it's all good.
See?
(I'm wearing my favorite new pjs. You can't really tell, but that's a sleeping bear. Underneath him it says "Bearly Awake" ...yup. I like cute pajamas)

So, for my birthday, my parents decided to upgrade my ukulele. I think they may have thought that I wasn't super serious when I declared that I would LOVE to have one of those cute little instruments. They snuck away the one I got for christmas away and replaced it with a higher-end model, complete with a pickup and pignose amp. the pignose amp is AH-dorable. Everyone needs one.
It looks like this, except it's white:
My new uke looks like this:
I'm rather lazy, and I haven't uploaded the beautiful pictures of the real deal. But you get the idea.
So, anywho, that was awesomeness. Then, we went on a family trip.
Dude, I'm seriously spoiled. Like, I'm pretty much good-for-nothing after this month of celebrations. Christmas, New Years, and my birthday are all exactly one week apart, so this time of year is like one huge never-ending party!
Now back to the daily grind....or is it?
I'm thinking I'm about to embark on a grand adventure.
I.
Am.
Stoked.
And praying hard.

anti-sunshine
Today, I had every intention of posting something happy.
I was going to post something that would make you smile, laugh even
...but I'm unable to.
I waited too long to write this.
It's much too late for happiness.
Much. Too. Late.
Sorry, but it's true.
If you came here expecting a silly optimistic post, I'm going to disappoint you.
Why? Because I'm in pain.
And I paid for said pain. (well, I didn't, but someone did. Someone with moolah.)
But pain brings out beauty, right? Something like that, or so I've heard.
Well, hopefully, in this case, it does.
This pain brings out straight, beautiful teeth.
MAYBE.
My teeth are aching. I can't be around anyone. I can't even smile....okay, I CAN, but my smile looks like a grimace.
I've taken pain meds, ok?
Maybe if they ever kick in, I'll re-post something cheerful.
But I don't feel optimistic.
Because as we all know, the optimist is the one saying "Well at least no one will wonder what hand I write with now!!" after having his hand bitten off by a lion.
I'm not an optimist.
Gloomy raincloud: that's me. Not little miss sunshine. NOT.
Okay, maybe this youtube channel will make you laugh. Maybe just a little bit. They made me smile (on the inside)
Here are some of the videos:
You might have seen this one. It's totally gone viral.
...aren't those canadians soooo friendly?

baby talk
oh the agony.
It's like teething all over again.
Where's the numbing gel?
On top of it, I have a cold. bleh.
The orthodontist reapplied some of my brackets today {using a ray gun no less...my super ability will come...sometime.}
My teeth/mouth/head hurts. I do NOT want to talk. I was fine earlier this evening, but the bad feeling is progressing.
I'm SUCH a baby. I've taken pain medicine, but it hasn't kicked in and the wires are keeping me awake.
Why yes, I would like some cheese to complement my whine.
Thanks a lot. Sadly, I CAN'T CHEW IT.
Sucking it up now. No pain, no gain. I will grin (grimace is a better word) and bear it.
I'm going to think about something else.
So I have a new wig from my bestie, Clearance. Clearance is such a good friend. We're tight. If ever I see her in a store, I make a veritable beeline.
The wig is crazy. I'd talk about it more, but it will be a prop in an upcoming skit (if my teeth ever stop hurting. sorrybacktotopic), and I want it to be utterly shocking in the best way. I shan't be recognized. It will be fun.
I need to brainstorm.
Also, I love your comments.
Even the anonymous ones.
Compliments (and *sigh* I guess criticism too): always welcome.
Compliments are *especially* welcome when I feel like this...
Mark Twain said something like:
I think this is true for many people...I also think I blog too much. But this is fun and it's taking my mind off of...
OH SNAP
...I just remembered.
owwww

Super-girl?
I was radiated. Twice in one day. But there's always an upside...
Before you start jumping to conclusions (as I realize that in this day and age radiation = cancer) know that I am well, for the most part, and have no life-threatening diseases (other than the normal ones)
So after that disclaimer:
Yesterday was an orthodontist day. Yay. My doctor is great, but there's only so much you can do to make wearing braces a "fun" experience. The fact that I have equipment in my mouth that could pay for a decent car doesn't help my dismal outlook... I digress.
When I went in, I was informed that I was due for a x-ray. Oh boy. Talk about feeling like an experiment. I stood in a crazy contraption, wore a lead apron, and bit down on a piece of plastic while holding my head at a certain angle. The nurse flipped the start switch and quickly exited the room. Metal bars spun around my head.
I might like to add that before the nurse left the room, she told me to stand perfectly still. There's nothing like being made over-conscious of a simple task. I was able to keep my body from moving, but it was pure effort.
After the examination, the doctor said he didn't really like the x-ray taken. He wanted a larger picture, or something along those lines.
So we went through the x-ray process again. The hygienist/nurse joked about radiation exposure.
At least I hoped she was joking.
When I got home, I looked up radiation exposure. I came to find out that radiation exposure is what causes superpowers.
Seriously. Google it. Super powers are caused by radiation. Wise Geek says so. It MUST be true.
So.
I'm developing superpowers as I type this.
And since the radiation was all targeted at my cranium, I'm sure it's going to unlock the telepathic (otherwise-inaccessible) part of my brain.
Also, I'm going to fly.
Maybe I'll be invincible.
I can already tell a difference.
Today, my senses are heightened. Every little noise catches my attention. Isn't that what initially happened to Spiderman? Yup. I'm getting extra-sensory-perception.
The naysayers (*cough* Mom and Dad *cough*) claim that my senses are extra-sensitive today because my teeth have been tightened. They say that my teeth are giving me a headache and possibly making me delusional. According to them, I have as much a chance of getting ESPN as ESP.
All I can say is, "Go NY Giants!!"
*sigh* there always will be critics...
But I'm going with the thought that my super-powers are developing.
I'll keep you posted.
