Jumbled Jingles...

I don't know if you're like me in this respect.
But I'll share my problem with you so that perhaps you can share in the burden (maybe I'll get an "Amen, sista!")
Maybe it'll help others to recognize their problem as well.

So here goes. This is how it would be in a anonymous support group:

"Hi, my name is Kenzie."
Hi Kenzie
"I have a problem."
Ohh, a problem? We understand. Tell us about your problem. Share.
"Well, I have this problem with random things running through my brain constantly.
Also songs.
Lots of them.
Sometimes they get so loud I just have to start singing or verbalize them in some way.
Which could be potentially embarrassing for anyone who might know me."

(But by this time everyone in my support group is shaking their heads sadly.)
We're sorry, but there isn't really any help for you here.

So I left that support group.

Oh well. I'll find a way to deal.

Just don't hang around me if you don't want to be embarrassed.
Problem solved?
It's rather annoying, but I have to come to terms with it at some point. Ah, well...

The past two weeks have been a wee little bit BUSY.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything.

Life has been a bit demanding of my time.
But I’m back.
For a short visit.
Maybe you’d like some hot tea and ginger snaps? (Because that’s what I’m having right now, and I’d be more than happy to share)

Let’s get re-aquainted here.
In my last post I talked about the pollen, my cousins, movie-making and such.
Having the cousins here was a blast!
It was very energetic, and I loved pretty much every minute of it.
(Other than when they were overdue for a nap. Or when it so happened that the little one needed a diaper change... )
But cest’ la vie. It was indeed wonderful.
Then that weekend was the youth rally for NC.
It was really a great time to reconnect, to be up on a mountain, and get to know some of the other kids in my youth group better.

It was also a quiz rally.
My church had a “team”.
Talk about nerves! It was a pretty low-key quiz bowl, but still. Pushing a buzzer and blurting out what you pray will be the answer that the judges are looking for is nerve-wracking.
The hot-spot is indeed hot
Our team got third (out of six). So we were the “average” group?
The cool thing about the quiz rally is that it was on the book of James. The five of us on the team (plus a few stragglers and the great leaders who helped us) got to know those five chapters really well.
Pablo Plays Guitar While Making Goodies Without Plucking Hard.
(that was to help remember the traits of heavenly wisdom...)
Then this past weekend, I got to hang out with a friend at the mall.
So. FUN!
We went dress shopping, even though neither of us needed a dress (nor had the budget for most of the $$$ dresses!)
I’m surprised at what some people would actually pick out for prom. Seriously. The marshmallow dress (as we dubbed it) is IN, apparently. And it doesn’t look good:

So 2010.
Ugh. Someday we’ll look back and say that.

Annnnnd, I did something I’m terribly ashamed of.
Okay so we were at the mall, right?
I can try to justify it, but there’s no excuse.
Everyone does it at some point or another.
I’m only human. (Keep this in mind, please.)
Well, here’s what happened.
I don’t know if you’ve ever gone intense shopping before. Well, being at the mall, walking around, trying on hideous dresses, it wears you out.

Don’t believe me? Try it.

You’ll have a blast, but you’ll be exhausted.

So we’d been shopping for going on two and half hours.
I needed a cold drink.
There was a smoothie kiosk in front of me. Magically.
Starbucks would have been cheaper (so you get an idea of the prices...) Starbucks was also on the other side of the mall.
It's a big mall. Lots of walking to get to starbucks.
But this place was right there in front of me.
("Five dollars for a jr. sized drink?!?!
are you insane?!!?", is what my brain was telling me)
I was insane, apparently.
The nice guy with the strange piercing and even stranger lisp even said he’d make me another kind of smoothie if I didn’t like it.
I was hesitant.
But I never go to the mall.
And an icy cold banana smoothie sounded SO GOOD. Starbucks was so far away. My legs were worn out from walking. It was warm in the mall.
A icy smoothie was just what I needed.
So in great weakness,
 I bought it.
Looking back, I’m terribly ashamed.
But I did do my part for the economy...

(I can say this though:
The first smoothie he made was okay. Not great.
So I said I didn’t like it.  Just to see.
And he really did make me a different smoothie.
Cranberry-banana-guava or something. Not bad.
But NOT worth five dollars. )

I'm glad that I already have a sweet dress though.
Because finding one would have been hard. I don't have that kind of $$$, either.
With my dress, it worked out perfectly...
That's another story. You'll be enlightened later.
Maybe.

There's much to do.
I hope you enjoyed your tea and cookies. I did.
Have a lovely afternoon.

insouciant interests?

                        There are clouds of yellow surrounding EVERYTHING.

                                The sky is even starting to take on a yellowish hue.
I had forgotten what it was like for everything to be coated in pollen.
                                                                             It's the yearly infestation.

If you live anywhere near a pine tree, you know what I mean.

Only a few more weeks (or a big rain storm) and the pollen will have dissipated.
I hope.
Right now, I'm wishing that I had some yellow clothes.
Then it wouldn't show up when I stupidly sit on a park bench.
(it hasn't happened yet, but as the boy scouts say, "be prepared!")
I'll eventually get my wish. My clothes WILL be yellow if I stay outside long enough.

It's most definitely warming up. Perfect weather to run in.
I love it.
The sun is making all of my freckles pop out.
Oh, if only they would all join together...

Ho hum.
Freckles aren't that bad...
I'm glad I don't live a few hundred years ago
back when freckles were considered horrid;
people had to stay in the shade all of the time or use poultices for fear of them.
Being a red head wasn't the best either...

Yup, this is a prime era to live in! I can have freckles freely...

Speaking of prime eras, I wonder if I should have been born about 50 years or so ago.
It's odd, but I identify with the 60's and 70's culture; the music, the clothing, the attitude. People seemed to be so much more original and creative.
Now everything is canned.
Especially the music.
I live in the past.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So in my math class, we are getting to draw flowers.
Talk about sweetness.
It sounds nerdy, "it's the polar graph of a sine or cosine function. One of the many tedious exciting shapes"
AND, didyaknow, there's a video contest going on in the math department (extra credit if I participate!)
The deal is that it has to be sport related
AND use higher level math... oh dear.
Hmmmm, I'll be brainstorming. I think that first place gets something like 50 bucks. Not too bad, especially considering that I'll be getting some much needed extra credit.
Speaking of videos, my mac,
(which is WAAAAAY better than a PC, I add snidely
has some pretty sweet video editing software.
I've been playing with it for a week now.
It's rather addicting.
I uploaded one of my videos to youtube...I like background music, in case you didn't notice.
Sound effects are also fun.  (if you want to see the whole thing click here)
So, this is what my sisters and I do for fun.
Don't ask me who that last guy on the credits is... I really have no idea.
*********
This week will be full of energy.
My cousins are in town, staying with us all week!
All four of them. Aged 8 and under.
It will be really fun,
...so long as everyone gets their naps in during the day.
(Oh! Oh! I have something else to talk about, but maybe I'll save that for another post...yes, I think that I will. )
This post has gotten longish.
I like longishness USUALLY
...as long as it isn't just long run on sentences that just seem to go on and there aren't any breaks and the writer doesn't understand paragraphs and really sometimes you can't understand the meaning of the sentence even after you read it twelve times or maybe even fourteen times and then the grammar isn't great like you know people who write stuff and like don't think about how other people dislike ambiguity ...
You get the idea. Thankfully none of my friends write like that.
But if they did, I'd still love them.
I'll attempt to save you from that annoyance.
A man. A plan. A canal. Panama.
Happy Spring and Easter!!!
IT'S SPRING!
Oh yes. I love the color of the plants, everything becoming new.
It made me want to take pictures of everything blooming, the blue sky. Much to my sister's chagrin.
Me: "Ooh, look at this flower picture! It turned out so nicely! You can see the details here of the..."
Sister: "mmhm. okay. You've shown us enough flower pictures. C'mon.... I've already seen 50 of these pictures"
I can definitely sympathize.
But I'm just so happy for spring! I think I have spring fever.
Mark Twain said:
“It's spring fever.... You don't quite know what it is you DO want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”
The breeze is blowing the trees and the sky is the perfect shade of blue.
I know that I'm going on and on about this, but this winter seemed
SO LONG.
SO COLD.
I did get to make a cute snow seal, though. :)
 Now that everything is renewing and growing, it just fills me with excitement. Don't worry, I will not complain about the heat this summer, no matter how hot it gets, I know that I've done a  lot of whining this winter.
The only bummer about spring is the allergies. I've been lucky so far. Whatever that plant is that I'm allergic to hasn't bloomed yet. Hallelujah!
This week I had a epiphany.
I was playing some chord patterns on the guitar.
EUREKA.
I was playing a song.
A real song that you actually hear on the radio.
It was exciting.
I've had that happen before and it makes me giddy.
Excited. Let's put it that way.
 Speaking of, I think that I'll go practice some more.
********
 Listening to the hour of BBC on NPR is fun.
I love their accents, the staccato way of speaking.
I can imitate it to some extent; most people can.
Unless they’re hard of hearing.
Back when I worked at Chick-fil-a, to make things more interesting for myself, I would assume an accent.
Once I did a “southern belle” accent.  Most people ignored it.
There are SO MANY people here in the south (go figure) who actually talk like that, it didn’t make a difference...
Then the next day I did a bit of a British accent, just ever so slightly staccato with that nice bright sound. Lots of people bought it. It was amusing.
Of course, I told them the truth when they asked where I was from.
Lucky for me, I’d stopped with the accent before I had some real Britons for guests. That would have been terribly embarrassing to talk to them with a fake accent.
I've noticed that I have a different way of talking since I my braces were put on...
only another year...and my teeth shall be free!
The other day, I got to change the color of the bands on my braces.
I went with silver.
I know that it's boring, but occasionally  going with the vanilla is okay.
Sometimes it's relaxing to go with the no nonsense thing.
Usually I love to go with the quirky, the interesting.
But with these braces, I decided to go with what was quirky to me.
It was nice to mix things up like that.
Okay, so most of this was written last week.
I was too lazy to click "post". There shall be more randomness to come...
Happy Easter! HE IS RISEN!
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time."
1 Peter 1:3-4
